Flavien Prat capped an amazing 2024 year when winning the Grade 2 Mathis Mile S. aboard King of Gosford (GB) at Santa Anita on December 26.

It was his record 56th Graded Stakes win of the year passing Jerry Bailey’s record of 55 that was set many years ago in 2003. Bailey won 660 Graded Stakes in his Hall of Fame career.

Earlier in the month, Prat notched his record-setting 80th stakes win at Aqueduct aboard Poster in the Remsen S. (G2). He would win two more stakes before 2025 was ushered in for a new all-time record of 82 stakes victories. The old record was set by Irad Ortiz, Jr. in 2022 with 79.

Prat also led in purse earnings with $37,280,000 from his 230 victories from 1,040 rides. His $35,800 average purse per start also led the country. His purse total was second best all-time.
